On March 10^th, 2008, the Poway High School Agriculture Department learned that the recent state education budget cuts will have an IMMEDIATE IMPACT on the only program of its kind in the Poway Unified School District (PUSD). The PUSD Board of Education recommended that they reduce the Agricultural program at Poway High School by four classes next school year (two classes per semester).

In September of 2005 a group of parents and community members founded a California (501-c3) non-profit corporation called the Poway High Ag Partners. Our mission is to increase awareness and enrollment in the Poway High School Agriculture Department through education, marketing and financial support. We have donated $7,500. each year to Poway High. We are committed to providing service and funding to a program designed to help teens gain practical life skills in a unique, hands-on way. Students in PUSD, regardless of what High School they attend, have the opportunity to participate in competitive events, practice public speaking, build teams in support of projects, raise project animals for auction and learn gainful employment skills in California’s largest industry, Agriculture.

Our program has been very successful these past few years. It reaches out and involves kids that may never have been involved in High School before and encourages them to continue on in there studies. We have more then doubled our enrollment in the program and have had over 88% of our graduating seniors (Program Completers in the Ag Department which are students who have completed 3 or more years in the Agriculture Program at Poway High School) go to college and continue their education in the Agriculture or Animal Sciences Fields.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! We must raise $24,108 by May 20^th, 2008 in order to continue our program full time for the 2008-2009 school year. The Poway High Agriculture program develops successful students who are our future veterinarians, chemists, teachers, government officials and business leaders.
